One Time Alive Stuff!

With the release of the second album 5 Star Vending Machine, One Time Alive has taken a direct approach to hardening the sound that was born with the release of debut album Sugar Train in 2014.

Shattering Revelations from the Shed and Double Trouble!!!

This in part, is due to the focus on sonic progression through spontaneous writing sessions at Southcove Recordings during 2015, culminating in the two week recording date at the Firehouse studio in Park Avenue, Porthcawl.

These sessions saw a return to the Bass guitar for Ed, which he plays throughout the album (As opposed to the one bass track out of a possible 21 tracks on Sugar Train).

The trade mark horn section is very much once again in evidence on Five Star, providing an elegant touch to the harder riffing songs and elevating the dynamic harmonic effect for the quieter songs on the record.

The Album has played well with Fans and reviews have identified the “Different animal” as maintaining its varied approach to genre skipping, whilst cranking up the aggressive edge to the sound when required.

The band played a mixed set last December supporting the legendary Son of Man at the Earl Haig club in Cardiff. The night was a spectacular success with the band taking the 200 strong audience on a kaleidoscopic trip through both albums, leaving the city crowd roaring for more.

This year has started hard and fast.

The band spent last Autumn recording their third album (The Red Shift) which is lined up for a late spring 2017 release.

As well as the usual motley crew associated with such productions, the band recruited the services of New Girl Sophie Price on vocals for the recording and managed to persuade her through a mutual love of animals and good coffee, to join the band full time, bringing her exceptional live talents to the party, on guitar, occasional bass and maybe a little bit of synth from time to time.

Sophie adds an ethereal dimension to the songs on the new album, channelling the vocal spirit of the Honkettes ( Lynyrd Skynyrd). The I Threes ( Bob Marley) and Clare Torry (Pink Floyd). Into the One Time Alive sound.

The new line up will be debuting new material in Porthcawl on the 3rd of March at The Green Room, before heading over to headline a private party at the newly opened and uber industrial Loko Club beneath Temple Meads train station in Bristol the week after.

The band are currently rehearsing for shows this year and completing the material for the new recording project.

One Time Alive  are looking to make a theatrical stomp across the genres once again, drawing on the super cool influences of old favourites such as Glen Miller, Aker Bilk, Talking Heads, The Electric 6, The B-52’s, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (With Kylie)!! Rush, The Beatles, Funkadelic and Bob Dylan.
